Songwriting: Building Your Musical Toolbox

Tuesday evenings from 6pm - 7:30pm / Sep 29, Oct 6, Oct 13, and Oct 20

Join me for a 4 week class all about music elements of songwriting. Each class we will discuss a melodic, rhythmic, or harmonic songwriting technique by analyzing songs and/or doing in class exercises. Each week I will give a songwriting assignment/prompt to take home, and on weeks 2-4 we will take time for in class feedback. The class is limited to 6 students, and everyone will get one in class peer feedback session, plus written feedback from me each week. The class will take place on zoom, link will be sent prior to the first class.

$200 standard cost / $150 discounted rate / $250 patron rate

Lyric Writing: Exploring the Lyrical Landscape

Tuesday evenings from 6pm - 7:30pm / November 3, 10, 17, 24

Join me for a 4 week class all about the lyrical elements of songwriting. Each class we will discuss ways to be creative with rhyming, metaphor, imagery, language, and/or line length and syllabic meter, by analyzing songs and doing in class exercises. Each week I will give a lyric writing assignment/prompt to take home, and on weeks 2, 3, and 4 we will take time for in class feedback. The class is limited to 6 students, and everyone will get one in class peer feedback session, plus written feedback from me each week. The class will take place on zoom, link will be sent prior to the first class.

Private Music LEssons

I teach private music lessons in person in Durham, NC, and online on Zoom. I teach fiddle/violin, guitar, songwriting, voice, harmony singing, and music theory.

My standard rate is $80 per hour.

I offer two other options: a $60 discounted rate if my standard rate is cost prohibitive, and a $100 patron rate for those who are financially able.
